Police have launched a probe after a man was pulled from a canal near a Lidl supermarket and pronounced dead.
Officers received an alert at 7.30am this morning and raced to a section of the Trent and Mersey Canal in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, where the man was discovered. Police , paramedics, and firefighters all attended, and the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after fire crews recovered his body close to a Lidl supermarket. A cordon was placed around the area as detectives worked to establish what had happened.
Staffordshire Police say they are treating the man's death as "unexplained" and are urgently appealing for anyone with information to contact them as enquiries continue.
