GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — As lake-effect snow continues to sweep across Northeast Ohio , the Ohio Department of Transportation says its teams have been in nonstop response mode since Wednesday.
ODOT District 12 Public Information Officer Brent Kovacs says 266 plow trucks have been deployed across Northeast Ohio, including 73 trucks in District 12 alone, which covers Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties.
“The weird thing about the storm — it’s lake effect. So one area is going to look worse than the next area, so you really have to drive per the conditions," he said.
Crews are working 12-hour shifts, swapping out twice a day. District 12 has 60–70 drivers per shift, meaning up to 140 plow drivers are out in their three-county region every day while the storm continues.
