Against all odds, The Underdog is looking like a good bet.
It’s Penticton’s newest sports bar, with a focus on affordable menu items -- none of the hot meals or cold drinks cost more than $10.
It operates from the former home of Clancy’s Pub & Grill, which was closed for renovations through the first three weeks of November.
Some locals may miss Clancy’s -- it was charming in a way only dive bars are -- but owners Anthony Dell’Orso and Jody Brown decided it was time for a facelift.
They worked 12 to 16 hour days throughout a three-week closure earlier this month, and hired Mark Buyan from Totally Custom to be the foreman.
“Without him I don’t think we could have done this,” Dell’Orso said.
They planned The Underdog to be more of a bar than a pub.
