BAXTER — Flurries were falling and cheer was had as customers gathered outside the doors of Fleet Farm in Brainerd as the clock struck 5 a.m. and the doors swung open to welcome the start of the holiday season.
With a slight breeze and temperatures around 20 degrees, Black Friday shoppers on Nov. 28 were greeted at Baxter’s Fleet Farm with warm cups of coffee by employees running a coffee cart up and down both lines as customers waited for the doors to open.
Kaylee Sweet, Nickie Veith, along with Declan and his mom, Jasmyn Wickham, all of Brainerd, were waiting outside the automotive entrance at Fleet Farm since about 4 a.m. with hopes of getting some new hunting and ice fishing gear.
Sweet said she was looking for a good heated jacket for sitting in the deer stand next year.
