( 25News Now ) - Inside a Central Illinois hospital this Thanksgiving, the halls may have been quieter, but the meaning of the day is everywhere.

The life of a nurse isn’t easy. Injury and disease don’t take holidays so nurses can’t either. Nurses say that in working the holiday, they find gratitude amidst their duties.

With fewer patients, nurses have a rare moment to pause and reflect.

Being away from family is the hardest part, but they are sending love home.

“I am most thankful for my family,” said Andrea Look, a registered nurse at Carle Health. Look assists as a resource for other nurses who face complications or issues during their shift, and she takes care of patients as a beside nurse ensuring they have everything they need such as medications.
