At a time when some small to mid-size music venues have been forced to close their doors or find new digs, Commonwealth Bar & Stage in Calgary is charging forward in a direction of bold growth.

Commonwealth unveiled a renovation and rebranding this month, intended to inject new vibrancy into the city’s music scene.

Live music is a vital part of any city’s creative and arts scene, says Commonwealth general manager Brad Larssen.

With a 14-year history of showcasing music in the city, the revamped venue is serving up a new slate of offerings, including LED lighting, an expanded stage, new VIP sections, a bigger dance floor and fresh murals by artist Rhys Farrell.
