BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WREX) — A local high school football team is celebrating their newest state title.
The Lena-Winslow Panthers beat the Brown County Hornets in the IHSA Football 1A State Championship game on Friday at ISU. This is Le-Win's seventh title in the last 15 years.
Seniors Aiden Wild and Alec Schlichting combined for 7 of Le-Win's 8 touchdowns of the day. Wild rushed for 170 yards and 5 scores, while Schlichting ran for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Junior Ryder Schulz ran for Le-Win's 8th and final touchdown of the day. He added 73 rushing yards of his own.
Le-Win jumped out to an early lead, as they were up 30-0 in the second quarter. It was 38-6 to the Panthers at the half.
