Just over half of shoppers plan to spen their money in physical stores
About three-quarters of Albertans plan to shop on Black Friday, a survey shows, affirming the holiday tradition that was coined decades ago after the day’s sales had pushed the accounts of businesses “in the black” — a term referring to being profitable.
The survey was undertaken by global real-estate firm JLL, which interviewed 1,000 people across Canada. It found that consumers in Alberta will, on average, likely spend approximately $1,376 this holiday season across gifts, experiences, and non-gift items such as food and decorations, which is about $270 lower than the national average.
