CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Craven County man is charged in a Thanksgiving stabbing that killed a teenager from Chocowinity.
Craven County deputies say Billy Gaskins is charged with an open count of murder.
The stabbing happened at Gaskins’ home on Wilmar Road, outside of Vanceboro.
Deputies say there was a fight at the home between the 55-year-old Gaskins, a woman, and an underage boy.
The two were injured during the fight, according to deputies.
They say a friend of the boy, 19-year-old Damien Tompkins tried to intervene and was stabbed by Gaskins.
Tompkins died at the home, deputies say.
Gaskins is being held without bond.
