A downtown London men’s wear store is closing after a 50-year run, a decision the owner says is driven by shifting customer demographics and the rise of online retailing.

Dan Hasson, owner of Dan Hasson’s Clothier, has worked in men’s clothing business since he was a teenager, starting out at a store in Dresden, Ont.

He studied business administration at St. Clair College and briefly worked as a buyer for another store before moving to London to start his own business in 1976 at White Oaks Mall.

Hasson works one-on-one with clients, usually starting visits with a chat and a coffee before getting into what they’re looking for – a routine that is steady, with the same people coming into the shop.
