Thanksgiving has come and gone, but the wintry weather that came with it is here to stay.
Fast-moving weather systems will bring snow, rain and cold to the region this weekend and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
Southwestern Pennsylvania, however, should be largely unscathed by the major winter storm moving though the Midwest, potentially leaving some areas with a foot of snow and threatening the cancellation of hundreds of airline flights.
In Pittsburgh, snow showers were expected Saturday night after dying down on Friday evening, said David Shallenberger, an NWS meteorologist.
