The Lake Oswego football team finally finished a mission a year in the making.
A year removed from a state championship game loss to West Linn, the Lakers returned to Hillsboro Stadium on Friday afternoon and routed Central Catholic 35-6 for the Class 6A state title.
The game was all Lake Oswego from the jump. The first drive of the game ended with Hudson Kurland finding Jalen Bauman for a 55-yard touchdown reception down the middle.
Central Catholic looked like it was poised to respond on the Rams’ first drive of the game. But Robbie Long sent up a deep pass and it was intercepted by Bauman in the end zone for a touchback. Lake Oswego blew down the field, and LaMarcus Bell was able to take a handoff for a 1-yard dive touchdown. A missed point after attempt made it a 13-0 lead.
