The National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory at 5:31 p.m. on Friday in effect until Saturday at 1 a.m. for Western Schenectady, Eastern Schenectady, Western Albany, Eastern Albany and Western Rensselaer.
"Additional snow accumulations up to four inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "A heavy lake effect band is currently impacting the Capital District, with snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour and reduced visibilities of 1/4 of a mile."
