LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — A rockslide along U.S. Highway 2 sent three people to the hospital earlier this week after a boulder crashed into a westbound vehicle near milepost 97, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened about three miles from Leavenworth when a rock fell from the eastbound side of the highway, crossed the eastbound lane and struck a car headed west. The river sits on the opposite side of the road, leaving little room for the driver to avoid the impact.

A driver and three passengers were inside the vehicle. The passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, including a 12-year-old who required stitches for lacerations, troopers said. The driver was not hospitalized.
