Eight people, including six firefighters, have been injured in a four-alarm fire currently roaring through a Bronx apartment building, officials said Friday afternoon.

The conflagration started around 3 p.m. on the top floor of a six-story apartment building with a cockloft on Sheridan Ave. between E. 172nd St. and Mount Eden Pkwy., an FDNY spokesperson said.

It quickly escalated to four-alarm status, with a total of 140 firefighters and EMS personnel deployed to the scene.

Six smoke eaters have been transported to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital with minor injuries. Two civilians are also being treated for minor injuries.

The fire was still ongoing as of 5 p.m.
