CLEVELAND — An accident 15 years ago meant Sam Mahoney would need to rely on a wheelchair, but it couldn't derail his passion for flying. Mahoney's determination, along with help from a nonprofit, gave him his wings.

"I always had a dream to fly; Able Flight made it possible," Mahoney said. "I happened to come across the website online and signed up and got into the program. It has changed my life."

Able Flight not only changed Mahoney's life — it's at the core of what it does. The organization offers people with disabilities a way to challenge themselves through training to get their sport pilot license.

"I get to do something that other people take for granted,” Mahoney told us. “To be able to fly and to have an airplane that's retrofitted for me to fly, there's not a lot of planes
