TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The day after Thanksgiving has a nickname in the plumbing world: Brown Friday. It is known as the busiest day of the year for plumbers, as clogged drains and disposals keep them on their toes.

News 4 Tucson's Jafet Serrato visited a local plumbing company to see the hustle firsthand and learn how to avoid costly repairs.

After the Thanksgiving feast, what's left in the sink can be more trouble than the turkey — grease and scraps that clog drains and disposals.

"It's inevitable, especially this time of year when you have houses full of families," said Jerame Kortness, lead technician for Right Now Plumbing.

Kortness explained that while a typical day might bring about seven calls, on Brown Friday, the number jumps to around 10 to 15 calls.
