GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Minnesotans are used to the cold, but this season might bring a chill we haven’t felt in years.
“You got to go back to 2013, 2014, now that was the polar vortex year, but you got to go back that far to where we’ve had a December potentially this cold, so it’s been 11 years,” said KARE 11 Morning Meteorologist John Ziegler. “I think what’s shocking is that we haven’t had a lot of cold winters, so now it’s time, it’s payback.”
Ziegler said winter is going to feel more normal.
"We’re going to be ice fishing earlier… we’re going to have the ski resorts open up on time. It’s going to be a good winter for folks who enjoy it,” Ziegler said.
However, just because we’re in store for a potentially colder winter that doesn’t mean we will get a lot of snow.
