INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A local family is seeking justice as they claim an Independence nursing home’s neglect killed their father.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records indicate that Linda Keeler, of Shawnee, filed the lawsuit on Wednesday, Nov. 26. It names Rosewood Operator, LLC , which owns The Groves .

Court records show that Keeler claims the facility’s failures led to her father’s death - which was preventable.

The lawsuit indicates that on:

Nov. 13, 2023: Jimmie Frye was admitted to The Groves with a pressure ulcer and surgical wound. Both appeared uninfected at the time.

Nov. 28, 2023: Staff found Frye unconscious in his room. He was rushed to Centerpoint Medical Center.

Dec. 4, 2023: Frye died
