The Regional Transportation District is conducting emergency repairs to the Yale Street bridge in Denver after a fuel tanker collided with the structure on Thanksgiving and disrupted light rail service in the southeast corridor.
The non-RTD crash on Thursday afternoon damaged the bridge’s retaining wall and continues to impact light rail service, RTD officials said.
The tanker was the only vehicle involved in the 1 p.m. crash, which resulted in fuel being spilled on the roadway .
Multiple agencies and emergency personnel responded to the accident, and light rail service was immediately suspended in the area.
The Yale Station was temporarily closed following the crash, but it has since reopened to customers.
