Despite an increased capital and operating budget next year, Calgary Transit will continue to face funding pressures as it aims to boost service levels and frequency, its director said Friday.

The agency’s net operating budget is going up from $391 million to $417 million next year, according to the city’s budget, while its capital costs are rising from $217 million to $306 million.
Transit officials are asking for another $14 million in ongoing operating funding to support the RouteAhead strategy, and $1.5 million in ongoing capital
