Despite an increased capital and operating budget next year, Calgary Transit will continue to face funding pressures as it aims to boost service levels and frequency, its director said Friday.

Calgary Transit director Sharon Fleming took questions from council members to kick off Day 5 of the city’s 2026 budget deliberations.

The agency’s net operating budget is going up from $391 million to $417 million next year, according to the city’s budget, while its capital costs are rising from $217 million to $306 million.
