DETROIT. (WILX) - Jackson Lumen Christi football continued its dynasty with a 28-14 victory over Kingsley in the Division 6 state finals on Friday afternoon.
The championship also marks the Titans’ 15th state title, which is an MHSAA record for the most for a football program.
It was Lumen Christi’s freshman running back Ayden Gatewood getting the Titans on the board first with a 25-yard touchdown run to give them a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Jackson Lumen Christi then forced a three-and-out on the Stags’ first drive. Then it was senior running back Sean Walicki taking a 60-yard run to the house, and Lumen Christi had a 14-0 lead just five minutes into the game.
Kingsley would answer back with two touchdowns to send it to halftime tied at 14-14.
It stayed that way until the fourth
