COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A northeast Columbia mosque is implementing additional security measures after a man brought an AR-15 rifle onto the worship grounds and interacted with children.
Richland County deputies arrested 29-year-old Adam White on November 20 for bringing the rifle to Masjid Noor ul Huda. He is charged with disturbance of a place of worship, aggravated breach of peace, and two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm.
“Islam itself means peace, compassion, mercy,” said Chaudhry Sadiq, president of the mosque. “He’s interacting with the kids. He has (a) gun in hand, which is dangerous.”
According to Sadiq, White first came to the mosque without a gun while about 50 people were praying, asking them about the religion.
“And that was something out of place,” Sadiq said.
