A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 6:36 p.m. for snow showers until Saturday at midnight for Mercer, Venango and Forest counties.

"Scattered snow showers may continue through tonight before tapering off towards midnight. While additional snowfall accumulations are expected to be light, enough melting of the snow on area roadways combined with falling temperature may result in icy spots. Untreated bridges and ramps are often the first surfaces to ice up. Anyone traveling tonight should be alert for a wide range of conditions and slow down in adverse weather conditions," states the weather service.
