COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (WOWT) - Flurries began falling across the metro area Friday afternoon, with heavier snow totals expected in Iowa. Council Bluffs has declared a snow emergency as city workers and private contractors prepare for overnight snowfall.
City workers hit the streets before dawn to prepare roads for the incoming weather system .
The snow emergency declaration adds complexity for local snowplow companies operating in the city. Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, no parking is allowed on emergency snow routes marked with blue signs.
“We make sure we have backup plan, upon backup plan, to make sure that if something breaks, we have all the tools and hoses, and fluids necessary to fix it and get back on the road,” said Brad Anderson of Great Outdoors Lawn and Landscape.
