WASHINGTON, D.C. – Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the U.S. Treasury is working to cut off federal benefits to undocumented immigrants under President Donald Trump's directive.
Bessent stated that the objective is to preserve these benefits for U.S. citizens.
In addition, Bessent mentioned that the Treasury Department will propose new regulations. These regulations will address aspects of the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Additional Child Tax Credit, the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Saver's Match Credit.
This move is part of the administration's broader immigration enforcement agenda.
