BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WAVE) - Almost five years ago, WAVE News shared with you the story of a Bullitt County mother who gave birth while fighting a severe case of COVID-19. Now she is sharing her story, hoping her survival testimony will inspire others to rely on their loved ones and seek professional help when needed.

On December 26, 2020, Taylor Kern, who was nearly nine months pregnant, went to the hospital because she couldn’t breathe. She then tested positive for COVID-19.

“And it was four days later that they told me that I had to do this,” she recalled. “I had to have a C-section, you know, to put myself on a ventilator and save my kid and save myself at the end of the day.”

Kern spent 40 days in the hospital.
