COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the fourth straight year, Ohio State has won the "Blood Battle" competition against the University of Michigan.

Ahead of The Game each year, the rival schools compete and donate blood for local patients.

The 44th annual battle began Oct. 22 and ended on Nov. 26.

Ohio State collected 103 more pints than Michigan.

Final tally of total pints collected:

Ohio State: 1,725

Michigan: 1,622

The collection total from both universities has to potential to save up to 10,000 lives.

Ohio State hosted 52 blood drives in the campus area over the 34-day period.
