A structure fire in East Jefferson County resulted in the total loss of a building, as well as several cars parked near it.

According to Russ Gawler, fire chief of the Baneberry Volunteer Fire Department, fire units were called at 10:34 a.m., Friday to the machine shop of Allen Paving Company, located at 2317 Sartain Springs Road in Talbott.

Cross roads were Valley Home Road and State Route 66.

Units from the White Pine and Kansas-Talbott volunteer fire departments arrived within five minutes of the alarm.

The fire was fought using a water shuttle system using tankers with a drop part at the bottom of the hill off the road.

According to Gower, there was severe structural damage to the machine shop, which was marked a total loss.

There were no injuries in the blaze.
