Coach Jon Sumrall pointed out Charlotte was tied with North Texas at halftime and held Texas-San Antonio to seven first-half points as he noted potential dangers in the Green Wave’s home finale. Both are true, but North Texas went on a 27-0 run in the fourth quarter to win 54-20, and UTSA beat the 49ers 28-0. Aside from playmaking receiver Javen Nicholas, a St. Augustine High product and LSU transfer, Charlotte is punchless on offense. Jake Retzlaff and company will get plenty of opportunities to put this one away early and guarantee another home game with the American Conference championship on the line.
