Seth Jarvis scored a hat trick as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the visiting Winnipeg Jets 5-1 on Friday night, their second victory over Winnipeg in eight days.
Jordan Martinook and Alexander Nikishin also had goals for the Hurricanes. Shayne Gostisbehere and Andrei Svechnikov had two assists, while Sebastian Aho, Mark Jankowski, K'Andre Miller, Justin Robidas and Eric Robinson each collected a helper. Carolina goalie Brandon Bussi made 13 stops.
Mark Scheifele scored the only goal for Winnipeg, assisted by Gabriel Vilardi. Thomas Milic, in his NHL debut in net for Winnipeg, made 30 stops.
The Hurricanes opened the scoring with 3:54 remaining in the first period. Jarvis, a native of Winnipeg, beat Milic after settling down a pass from Gostisbehere in the slot, which he finished off
