A winter storm warning has been issued for the Midwest, with travel discouraged and heavy snow possible.

Between 8 and 13 inches of snow could accumulate in portions of east-central and southeast South Dakota, northwest and west-central Iowa, and northeast Nebraska, during the warning.

The warning will remain in effect from the afternoon of Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 30. The hazardous conditions could impact commutes after work on Nov. 28, and travel is discouraged.

NWS expects the storm system will be followed by a stretch of even colder air and sub-zero nighttime and wind chills early next week.

The hazardous weather outlook is for central, east-central, south-central and southeast South Dakota; southwest Minnesota; and northeast Nebraska.
