FISHERS — Komets forward Nick Deakin-Poot scored his first goal of the season in overtime to secure a 5-4 win over the Indy Fuel on Friday in front of 5,101 fans at the Fishers Event Center.
A fight against the boards allowed Fuel forward Tyler Kobryn to have the center of the Komets’ zone to himself, setting up a goal just three minutes into the first period.
On a Fort Wayne power play, Fuel forward Jadon Joseph outskated Komets forward Kirill Tyutyayev to a cleared puck and found teammate Jesse Tucker for a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 with 8:25 left in the first.
The Komets would correct the mistake shortly after, with forward Blake Murray deflecting a shot by teammate Matthew Brown into the Fuel net. It was the Komets' first power play goal in 17 chances and made the game 2-1 at
