(Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration on Friday said it has reached an agreement with Northwestern University to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in research funds and close pending investigations into the school.

The Chicago-area university will pay $75 million to the U.S. government as part of the deal, the U.S. Justice Department said in a statement.

The Trump administration in April froze nearly $800 million in research funding for Northwestern after Republicans in the House of Representatives accused the university of not doing enough to address antisemitism, including during campus protests against the Gaza war.
