Estranged husband poured gasoline in wife’s bedroom before setting it on fire, authorities say

SYKESVILLE, MD. (WMAR) - A Maryland man is facing arson charges after he was accused of setting his own home on fire.

Investigators say the incident was part of a domestic dispute.

Long before the fire started at the home on Sherry Drive in Sykesville, neighbors knew something was amiss.

“I just saw two police officers’ cars come by with flashing lights, and I didn’t think anything that it was a fire,” neighbor John Enright said.

Investigators say a man set his own house on fire after a disagreement with his wife who was living inside the home. The husband had been living in an RV outside the home.

“A female occupant of the home indicated that her estranged husband had entered, forcibly entered the home, leading to some breaking of windows or what not. And so she was actually calling
