SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A 35-year-old prisoner died at the state prison in Sioux Falls, the South Dakota Department of Corrections said.

Larry Franklin passed away Thursday at the Jameson Prison, according to a department release.

Franklin was serving sentences for aggravated assault and simple assault on law enforcement from Minnehaha County at the time of his death.

The Division of Criminal Investigation and the Department of Corrections Office of the Inspector General are investigating the death.
