WEBSTER COUNTY, W.Va. —
The state of West Virginia is showing support for its National Guard members as residents mourn the loss of one of their own.
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and fellow West Virginia National Guard Member, Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, were shot in the line of duty in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. Advertisement
Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Beckstrom, 20, died from her injuries on Thanksgiving.
In an interview with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, the governor said Wolfe is “fighting for his life.”
"Remember that these were volunteers. Sarah was a volunteer, Andrew was a volunteer. They're stepping up when they don't have to,” Morrisey said.
