SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) - Around the Twin Ports, decks, doors, windows, and more are being lit up with festive holiday lights, including in Superior, where an old holiday tradition celebrated its young centerpiece.
Three years ago, due to an aging tree, the city had to change things up with a new tree, and Superior’s Mayor Jim Paine had a special idea.
“The important thing about Superior’s tree is that it’s real! It’s a live, growing tree, and that means it only lives so long,” said Paine. “I insisted that we plant the smallest, youngest tree we could find so that members of the community could grow up with that tree.”
Now, the tree is three years old and taller than most members in the community that came for its annual lighting ceremony.
