Mount Pleasant boys basketball snapped a 25-game losing streak, the second-longest in the WPIAL behind Mapletown’s 30, as the Class 3A Vikings pulled off a 51-26 win over Class 4A Yough to begin their season.

Speaking after the game, newly-appointed head coach Mark Katarski said he was “really happy for this group of young men. They’ve wanted this in their minds, but they just needed to have it happen on the court.”

Cole Massari led the way with nine points, including a 3-pointer to give Mount Pleasant a lead early in the second quarter that it never squandered for the long-awaited victory.
