DETROIT -- The Division 2 state title game between Dexter and Orchard Lake St. Mary was hardly one in which teams were grinding out long scoring drives.

Big plays were flying in both directions all night, as the Eaglets beat the Dreadnaughts 51-14 on Friday to repeat as Division 2 state champion.

On the second play of the second half, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s quarterback Jabin Gonzales found Brandon Adams in the flat to his right, and he dodged a defender and raced 65 yards for a score. On the next Eaglets drive, Gonzales hit Lorenzo Barber for a 40-yard touchdown.

Gonzales then opened the fourth quarter by tossing a 27-yard touchdown pass to Brannon Hardy.

The big plays added up to a big night for the junior quarterback. He was 17-of-22 passing for 304 yards and rushed 13 times for 102
