MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Holiday travelers and Madison residents are preparing for the season’s first major snowfall, with eight to 12 inches of snow expected to begin falling early Saturday morning.
Many travelers passing through the Madison area on Friday chose to hit the road early to avoid driving in dangerous conditions.
“We skipped eating Thanksgiving leftovers for lunch so that we could get on the road,” said Kathy Richards from Illinois on a stop in Dane County.
Richards said clear roads and moving traffic made for good travel conditions Friday, but she wanted to avoid what’s coming.
“Driving at night in the snow with the wind is not a favorite thing,” Richards said.
Katy Jones-Lucky, also from Illinois, changed her travel plans to beat the storm.
