GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Two woman are dead after a crash near a West Valley freeway injured several people Friday evening, according to Glendale police.
The Peoria Fire-Medical Department said six people suffered injuries from the wreck off the Loop 101 and Bell Road that happened just before 5:30 p.m.
In total, Glendale police confirmed two women died as a result of their injuries. Previously, fire officials said a man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Three children and a woman were also hospitalized.
A heavy police presence could be seen off the freeway for about 90 minutes as detectives pieced together what led up to the wreck.
Bell Road is shut down in both directions as well as the freeway ramps, according to authorities.
No other details have been released.
