The Southern Lehigh High School football team has made history.

For the first time in program history, the Spartans have advanced to the state final.

Southern Lehigh scored the first 21 points, experienced a wild comeback from Cardinal O’Hara and regained lead on senior running back Sean Steckert ’s 4-yard touchdown run with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter to clinch a 28-24 victory in a PIAA Class 4A semifinal on Friday night at Whitehall High School.

The Spartans, who improved to 14-1 on the season, will play unbeaten District 3 champion Twin Valley in the 4A state championship game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cumberland Valley High School. Twin Valley topped District 7 champion Aliquippa 28-24 in the other semifinal on Friday ni
