CHARLESTON -- The Contemporary Youth Arts Company opened its 29th annual production of the the rock opera "Mary" on Friday, and there are six more chances to take in the show.
CYAC wants to make the production available to all by offering a "pay what you can" model for ticket purchasing.
The rock opera, by Mark Scarpelli and Dan Kehde, tells the story of the nine months leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ, seen through the eyes of a young girl destined to become the most influential woman in the Christian tradition.
"For nearly three decades, this stirring production has become a cherished, family friendly holiday tradition in the greater Charleston community," CYAC stated in a news release.
This year’s cast features Maddie Wright in the title role of Mary; Blaize Hassan as Joseph;
