INDIANAPOLIS — As snow moves into central Indiana , some neighbors, like Shane Allen, remembered everyone on his street shoveling their neighborhood streets, working to make them driveable after not getting any help from city snowplows.
“You had people trying to get out, and they had to deal with it. I mean, it was not great,” Allen said.
Many residents avoided side streets altogether because of packed snow under their tires, choosing instead to stay home or stick to main roads.
This year, Indianapolis’ Department of Public Works said it has a new snow-removal plan designed to prevent a repeat of last winter. The plan uses a tiered system based on snowfall amounts.
