SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT) - Pulaski County blanked Atherton, 17-0 on Friday in the semifinals of the KHSAA Class 5A football playoffs.
With the win, Travis Burns’ crew clinched the program’s first state title game appearance in nine years.
After obliterating the opposition with three straight outings where they scored 40+ points, the Maroons were fueled by their defense against the Ravens.
The Maroons scored their first touchdown thanks to Winston Ford rushing it in from roughly 18-yards out.
Kasen Brock picked off Deairus Smith on the next possession. Pulaski County was able to turn that takeaway into a field to increase their advantage.
The Maroons will face Owensboro in the 5A State Championship at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Kroger Field.
