PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Afghan immigrant living in the Valley said he worries about discrimination his community may face after President Trump announced plans to pause migration from certain countries following a deadly shooting involving an Afghan national.
Trump said in a social media post that he will “ permanently pause all migration from all third world countries.” The post comes days after two National Guard members were shot, one of whom died.
The suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal , was granted asylum in 2021.
Tim Naseer, who lives in the Valley, said he has seen concerning online comments. “I’ve seen a lot of comments again. Terrorism,” he said.
