No one does football like Marion County. Two of the county’s three high schools had football teams competing in the state semifinals. Both will compete for a state championship next week.

South Pittsburg cruised to a 35-7 victory over Coalfield in the Class 1A state semifinals. Senior Jamychal Buckner led the way on the ground with three touchdowns as the Pirates reach the BlueCross Bowl for the fifth time in the last six seasons. They’ll take on McKenzie in the 1A title game on Friday, December 5th at 3 p.m. at Finley Stadium.

Marion County and Eagleton were tied up at 14-14 in the second half. The Warriors never blinked. They would rattle off 19 unanswered points for a 33-14 victory over the Royals in the 2A state semifinal. Marion County will get a chance to go back-to-back next Satur
