SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — As Black Friday crowds packed Old Town Scottsdale’s restaurants, bars and streets, Scottsdale police joined agencies across the East Valley on Friday night to launch this year’s holiday DUI task force — an effort running every weekend through the end of the year.
The goal, police say, is straightforward: get impaired drivers off the road before they hurt someone.
With dozens of restaurants, bars and breweries drawing in locals and tourists — and a rivalry matchup between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona adding to the rush — some out-of-towners told 12News they planned ahead to stay safe while enjoying the night.
