MACON, Ga. — Downtown Macon lit up Friday night as the ninth annual Christmas Light Extravaganza kicked off, drawing thousands of families to the streets to enjoy a musical and colorful holiday display.
“We come out here every year. It’s just so much fun, and it really gets us into the holiday spirit,” a visitor said as the lights illuminated four downtown blocks.
The show features more than one million synchronized lights set to music arranged and performed by Macon Pops.
Visitors experienced food vendors, late-night shopping and live music as part of the festivities. Road closures at Second and Poplar and Third and Poplar Streets helped ensure pedestrian safety throughout the crowded streets.
